Geneva/Abuja, 23 October 2025 – Senior United Nations officials have commended the Government of Nigeria for its leadership in addressing internal displacement and called for sustained international engagement to ensure that long-term, development-anchored solutions are fully realized.

The UN is ready to support Sudan and South Sudan in resuming talks on the disputed Abyei border region, the Security Council heard on Wednesday.

He expressed continued concern over chronically low submission rates.
